John B. Savage Jr., MD
Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Savage is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and also an acclaimed sculptor. Dr. Savage moved to the North Country in 2006 from Augusta, Georgia, where he was in private practice for 24 years. Augusta is also home to a life-sized sculpture by Dr. Savage of blues/funk-master James Brown. The sculpture was commissioned by the city of Augusta and is among several of Dr. Savage's works now in public and private collections. Dr. Savage created a sculpture that is used as the National Collegiate Punting Award (better known as the Ray Guy award). Since moving to the North Country, Dr. Savage sculpted the bust of Helen Hosmer, which is now on display in the vestibule of SUNY Potsdam's Helen Hosmer Hall.
